Forcible Entry Training Door Provides Realistic Training for Firefighters

Hopewell, Va., January 31, 2018 – AdvanSix (NYSE: ASIX) said today it has donated training equipment valued at $10,000 to Hopewell Fire and Rescue that will provide firefighters and other first responders a way to practice different techniques for getting in to a structure quickly. Called the Challenger Forcible Entry Training Door, the equipment eliminates the need for the department to find old buildings or other places where they can train.

“The time saved and lessons learned from practicing these techniques will help us enter a building rapidly, search for victims and extinguish fires quickly,” said Hopewell Fire Chief Donny Hunter. “Many local fire departments wait years for such an opportunity, and thanks to AdvanSix and our great relationship with the company, our firefighters will now be able to practice a wide variety of skills whenever they want.”

AdvanSix works closely with local fire departments throughout the year on emergency drills and other training, and joint programs focused on ensuring a safe community. The company has donated nearly $40,000 in equipment and other resources to local fire departments since 2011 and many of its employees serve on public safety boards or as volunteer firefighters in their communities.

“AdvanSix is proud to support our local firefighters with this important new training tool and to support them to help ensure a safe and secure community for all of us,” said Fred Harry, Hopewell Site Leader for AdvanSIx.

Nearly 700 people work at AdvanSix’s Hopewell site. It is one of the world’s largest single-site producers of caprolactam, a primary feedstock for nylon polymers, and a global leader in the production of ammonium sulfate fertilizers.
