The Business Director, Engineering Plastics is responsible for creating a strategic vision for long-term growth while managing both short- and long-term business performance and execution of strategy. This position is responsible for the P&L of the Engineer Plastics segment within the Nylon Solutions business and direct leadership of a team of sales, customer delivery, and marketing resources, while driving performance cross-functionally within Nylon Operations and Technology. This role can be located at our company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ or our location in Chester, VA.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Planning & Execution – Lead a global team of sales, marketing, and customer delivery professionals to develop and execute on the business’ strategic plan. Creates business line strategy including identifying market trends/ risks/ opportunities that impact the business globally, formulating a long-term view for customer development and key accounts, and overseeing organic and inorganic growth plans. Understands customer segmentation and associated strategies to achieve growth.
- Sales Management and Commercial Effectiveness – Executive account management for targeted accounts, manages the sales, customer service, and customer logistics team for the Engineering Plastics business line. Cultivates strategic relationships with customers. Understands end market demand and translates to a demand plan to be executed within operations. Owns fit for purpose key account plans and channel strategies. Create, develop, and execute contracts with key customers, including securing executive approval of the business case.
- Portfolio Management– Owner of portfolio strategy, responsible for developing and maintaining a thorough portfolio analysis that identifies opportunities for growth, acquisition, investment, harvest and/or divestiture.
- Business Planning– development of regional strategic plans and global marketing and business development strategies aligned to the strategic plan.
- Technology Development and New Product Introduction– work alongside Nylon Technology Director and Operations Leader to prioritize and implement a strategic technology development plan for the business. Provides strategic direction and oversight of technology prioritization (NPI process) and associated project management. Lead, and continually improving, business processes of introducing new products to market from initial identification of market/technology opportunity, conception, design, and development through to production, market launch, and retirement.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, engineering, or technical discipline, MBA Preferred
- 10+ years of industry experience, preferred chemical or pharma manufacturing
- 5+ years of Leadership experience in marketing, strategy, growth, and/or business management or business development

- Strategic Experience in a premier B2B marketing/strategy organization with a track record of establishing short-and long-term market and product growth goals, then executing operating plans to achieve them
- Operating Experience managing a P&L, with understanding of how to improve profitability. Proven track record of growing a business with profitable, organic, and inorganic initiatives that leverage core technology, cost and competitive advantages
- Change Agent- Transformational leader with ability to lead and motivate, share vision, inspire and rally colleagues in a matrixed and lean culture to drive cultural and business transformation
