This position will lead a team of project and construction talent responsible for the end-to-end execution of the capital projects at the AdvanSix Frankford PA, Bucks AL, and Portsmouth VA sites.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the planning and execution of the Chemical Intermediates project portfolio; working with operations, maintenance, HS&E, and business teams to prioritize this capital project portfolio and ensure safe execution of projects across the three Chemical Intermediates locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for the Chemical Intermediates Business Strategic Planning, Annual Operating Plan and New Product Development platforms to develop appropriate capital plans/budgets while working with site leadership teams.
  • Directly lead the capital engineering team, including providing mentoring, performance management and career development direction, utilizing performance management, development and talent development processes.
  • Manage the execution of prioritized site capital investments by assigning project management and construction resources
    • Lead both project and cross functional teams of business, technology, capital, operations, and HS&E team members.  This may include project engineers or project managers to assist with large capital project execution.  Interface with key site and company employees to make maximum use of available resources. Such functions will include, but not limited to, site engineering resources, purchasing, operations, systems, and business engineering, as well as equipment vendors, contracting firms.
    • Ensure all front-end loading deliverables are complete prior to gate and funding approval
    • Monitor and control portfolio of projects to meet the stated objectives and metrics commitments in the AR (both managed and in areas assigned).
    • Accountable for ensuring projects are forecasted, managed, and reported out monthly
  • Work closely with other Capital Team Leaders to forecast resource needs at minimum of a 90-day look ahead. 
  • Partner with Discipline Engineering manager to create and maintain portfolio of projects for engineering alliance relationship.
  • Advocate for strong safety awareness program with a consistent implementation of policies and procedures and participate in construction safety audits and contractor safety meetings.    
  • Involvement with the Frankford plant Turnarounds regarding capital planning.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, business, or technical discipline; chemical engineering preferred; Master’s degree/MBA preferred
  • 10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing in industries such as, chemical, pulp & paper, petro-chemical, or pharmaceutical, in direct support of chemical manufacturing facilities
  • Minimum 5 years of capital project execution or project management experience
  • 5 years of leadership experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to generate & implement work process improvements
  • Strong skills in use of SAP-PM, Sensei IQ, and the traditional Microsoft suite of tools
  • Strong leadership skills to drive productivity
  • Strong organizational skills are essential to manage priorities, enable site implementation leaders to manage logistics, and to manage the “pull” of services from multiple sites
  • Operations experience, multi-site experience, and PMP Certification preferred

The expected base pay for this position is $130,700 – $196,100
