Position Summary:
An Electrical and Instrumentation Designer is integral to the Engineering and Design Team’s mission of creating projects to keep the facility operating smoothly and efficiently. With skills such as drafting and field research, the designer will help the team develop capital projects. This role helps AdvanSix sustain and further its Health, Safety, and Environmental responsibilities from the front end by designing the processes put into actioin. An E/I designer works hand in hand with engineering, project management and plant area personnel to create a cohesive team effort to help improve production and efficiency.
Summary of the Main Responsibilities:
- Participate in Kick off Meetings, field walkdowns and verifications
- Design projects using AutoCad and analyzing field date in an operating facility
- Understand construction practices, vendor documentation/schematics and confirm compliance with plant and national codes and standards
- Understand/Design drawings for installation details, motor control single lines, room layouts, connection diagrams, cable schedules, lighting, power and instrumentation.
- Understand/Learn general process packages and P&ID reading and comprehension
We are open to candidates with one or both of the following levels of experience:
- A Minimum of 5 years’ Electrical and Instrumentation experience in an industrial manufacturing facility (chemical, pulp/paper, refinery, etc.), with entry level skills in or a willingness to learn AutoCAD.
OR
- Associate’s degree in Electrical and or Instrument design with solid Autocad 2D and 3D experience and a willingness to learn construction methods in an industrial facility.

The E/I Designer will work with a team of diverse, specialized individuals within both designer and engineering roles. Each team member brings one or more of the necessary traits to help the team work towards fulfilling the requirements of each project. Leaders are here to mentor and help guide each team member’s progress, which in turn allows the Team to be successful.
