Position Summary:
 AdvanSix currently has openings for these types of engineers: Maintenance, Technical, Production, Process, & Reliability Engineers. The Engineer 1 is responsible for supporting plant operations in meeting daily KPIs by providing troubleshooting, rapid problem solving, and process improvements. They also can 
interacts with the business, R&D, and plant groups to identify improvements and expansions to existing product lines. This position develops new products and processes that will sustain and grow the business This position ensures that the process engineering standards and procedures are met during the development, design, and construction phases of a project and works to improve these processes in parallel. Engineer 1 provides process technology support to operating plants. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor production in terms of quality, yield throughout cycle times, process parameters, and safety and environmental regulations
  • Complete work using the fundamentals of process simulation with simulation program(s)
  • Design a range of unit operations including reaction, distillation, refrigeration, fired heaters, and heat exchangers
  • Interact with the operating personnel and other departments to facilitate production, process trouble-shooting, and equipment maintenance
  • Provide integrations of manufacturing input for safety, quality, reliability, and operability into design
  • Perform process engineering calculations and comprehend PI&D drawings for the purposes of trouble-shooting and process modifications
  • Participate in site health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activities
  • Gather, interpret, report, and manage plant reliability metrics
  • Ensure quality assurance of engineering calculations, process simulations, and engineering drawings
  • Identify and implement improvements on basic control schemes and advanced process control strategies
  • Work within teams to identify and implement longer term process improvement efforts, with the overall goal being to achieve improved safety, higher yields, better production rates, & higher attainment
  • Assist with equipment performance troubleshooting as requested/required


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
  • 0-2 years of experience in process, production, and/or manufacturing engineering
  •          Experience in Petrochemical/chemical-based manufacturing such as ammonia, urea, methanol, etc. preferred

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to be self-directed in managing multiple priorities
  • Experience with process simulation tools such as ASPEN, HTRI, and pipe hydraulics programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization and ability to work in a team environment
  •         Strong educational background in materials, mechanics, fluid flow, dynamics and heat transfer 
  •         Knowledge of mechanical machinery design, selection, repair techniques and performance assessment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
