Position Summary:

The Instrument Mechanics install, calibrate, configure, program, modify, diagnose, and repair control valves, electronic, computerized, and electro-mechanical equipment. They perform preventative and corrective maintenance to distributed control systems (DCS), continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) and all associated instrumentation. Instrument Mechanics work predominantly independently but are required to collaborate with fellow technicians, contractors, operators, and vendors as needed.


Summary of the Main Responsibilities:

  • Performing and documenting maintenance calibration, installation, fault diagnosis, repair of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems i.e., transmitters, switches, analyzers, control valves, relays, etc. to have a safe and reliable operating unit
  • Repairing and maintaining environmental and continuous emissions monitor system (CEMS)
  • Performing all duties in a manner consistent with environmental, health, and safety policies
  • Willing to work overtime and provide off hours call out support when required
  • Reading and understanding manuals, schematics, and P&ID’s

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of troubleshooting as an instrumentation technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment or education level of Associates Degree in Instrumentation

Overview of the Team:

You will be working with other hourly employees in maintenance and operations departments. Also, collaborating will take place with your supervisor, and reliability/maintenance engineers.

You will receive different training on computer software systems, safety, environmental and maintenance principles. Career growth examples would include but are not limited to First Line Supervisor, Maintenance Planner, and Maintenance Coordinator.
