Position Summary: The Material Handler receives work assignments from the area chief and/or FLS (First Line Supervisor) who is responsible for the direction and assignments of job tasks associated with the Marine Operations area of the plant. Marine Operations handles marine shipments of Ammonium Sulfate, unloading raw materials by barge and railcar, and the operation of material handling equipment, including chemical storage operations at the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ammonium Sulfate Barge/Vessel loading
- Ammonium sulfate cleaning and housekeeping in Marine Operations and related areas
- Transfer of raw materials from storage to other operating areas
- Operating large valves and pumps on occasion
- Raw material unloading by vessel, truck, and railcar
- Docking of barges/vessels
- Overweight and underweight commercial truck weight adjustments
- Payloader inspections and general payloader operation
- Snow removal (Plant wide) including the use of pay loaders, shovels, and other equipment
- Bobcat and forklift operation
- Customer truck and North Side truck loading
- Marine Operations pad operation and cleaning
- Conveyor system operation and cleaning
- Safely operator all vehicles and other job-related equipment
- Support and enforce all corporate, facility and department policies
- Subject to 12-hour rotating shifts
- Must be flexible to changing priorities and willing to handle emergencies
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Additional Qualifications:
- To be successful in this position you must rate highly in the following capabilities or traits: Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, follow directions, comprehension, reading, writing, speaking, mathematics, organizing and innovation
- Able to perform duties wearing required PPE
- Computer Competency
The hourly rate for this position is $20.50
