Position Summary: The Polymer Operations Specialist is the plant or area process subject matter resource. This position utilizes process knowledge, technical expertise, and operations experience to assist in correcting process or equipment issues and improving process performance and reliability. This position guides knowledge capture and transfer in the area through coaching and enhancing capabilities of others and coordinates with maintenance First Line Supervisors to ensure appropriate execution of planned maintenance activities daily.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical/process subject matter resources
- Coach plant personnel to resolve technical operational issues
- Perform or assist in process related root cause or failure analysis
- Enhance first line employee skills and knowledge through coaching
- Identify areas for improvement and network with others to find most effective technology
- Participate in product quality audits and customer visits as needed
- Assist Shift Leaders in process troubleshooting
- Manage relevant KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
- Mentor Shift Leaders and engineers in area processes as necessary
- Review SOP(s) for accuracy and validation of paper to field
- Collect and evaluate checklist (for accuracy, improvement, and compliance)
- Act as back up to Unit Leader as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred
- 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing
- 3+ years of supervisory experience; 3+ years of experience working with circulating pumps, conveyors, elevators, and/or machinery operations
