Position Summary: The Payroll Analyst is responsible for processing biweekly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payroll. Duties include calculating gross and net pay amounts (e.g., salary, overtime, shift payments, sales commissions, bonuses, deferred compensation, benefits, tax withholdings, deductions, payroll liabilities, etc.), records maintenance, reconciliation of payroll records, data verification and administration, and answering questions from employees and internal partners as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and audit multiple union and non-union data inputs for bi-weekly payroll using the Ceridian Dayforce system.
- Accurately calculate and process timesheets, attendance records, and other relevant data to ensure accurate payment calculations.
- Address any discrepancies or issues related to payroll and resolve them promptly.
- Stay up to date with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard payroll data and mitigate risks of errors or non-compliance.
- Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, including employee information, timesheets, division, location, department, supervisor, tax withholdings, etc.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to relevant departments, management, and external stakeholders as needed.
- Handle employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a professional and timely manner.
- Continuously identify opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Review Quarterly payroll tax fillings for federal and states, work with representatives to resolve issues or notices.
- Work closely with Payroll Specialist for payroll journaling, reconciliations, flux analysis and accruals on a bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual schedule.
- Process wage garnishments, child support and subpoenas as required by law.
- Work in concert with HR to develop and implement new payroll procedures to be in compliance with all State and Federal laws.
- Provide support between the integration of the payroll system and other financial systems.
- Support internal business controls, ensuring SOX compliance and payroll data quality assurance.
- Partner with Payroll Manager to ensure company SOPs are built, continuously reviewed, and updated
- Prepare and manage payroll PBC list for internal and external audits.
- Document and maintain payroll process training manuals.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships with existing and future software systems.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Five to 7 years of end-to-end multi-state payroll processing using web-based payroll systems (Ceridian Dayforce preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities to address payroll-related challenges effectively.
- Proficiency in using payroll software, spreadsheets, and other relevant financial tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and external parties in a professional manner.
- Familiarity with general accounting principles and practices.
- Knowledge of U.S. wage & hour laws, garnishments, and payroll tax withholding rules at the federal, state and local levels.
- Experience with processing multiple union payrolls and knowledge of CBAs along with union dues, initiation fees etc. required.
- Payroll/HRIS software implementation experience preferred.

The expected base pay for this position is $69,100 – $103,700
