U. S. Amines, an AdvanSix Company manufactures and distributes a variety of alkyl and allyl amines. We currently have two world-scale production facilities. The plants are in Mobile, Alabama and Portsmouth, Virginia in the USA. The quality of our products are unsurpassed in the industry. Alkylamines and allylamines are used as basic materials, predominantly in agricultural chemicals but also in rubber processing, water treatment chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and others.
Position Summary:
Manage, lead, guide, direct, coordinate, administer and
report on all aspects of the Plant Quality System from raw materials to
finished product shipping, ensuring conformance to customer requirements. Support the activities of the plant
laboratories/technicians to ensure quality control and compliance with health,
safety and environmental regulations and ISO requirements. Provides support to Bucks and Portsmouth? as process
chemist for process improvements.
Actively supports and participates in continuous improvement processes. Ensures that the Quality Assurance Laboratory
can meet all the needs of the Process Operations in a timely, safe, efficient,
and reliable manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage all activities to implement,
improve, and sustain the Quality System at the Site and oversee the Quality Lab.
· Lead ISO registration activities and guide
compliance to ISO standards.
· Lead internal ISO auditing program and perform
supplier ISO audits.
· Maintain and revise quality manual and system
level procedures.
· Maintain ISO related CATS activities (input
CARs, customer complaints, internal audits, final product nonconformities,
issue monthly customer complaint report).
· Drive continuous improvement across the site.
- Manage
the analytical lab and technical specialist. - Provide
analytical routine/non-routine testing for production and waste treatment
plants. - Provide
problem-solving for plants and act as primary on-site source of chemical
expertise. - Develop
and maintain processes to ensure the quality specifications of incoming
raw materials, plant process samples and finished product shipments. - Develop
QA programs for new products, implement same and report results to
management. - Develop
analytical methods as necessary to support new technology, new specifications,
or in-process control. - Train
technicians and operators to ensure the lab is physically and hygienically
safe. - Responsible
for supplier contacts for vendor certifications and customer contacts for
complaint investigations. Frequent
contacts with corporate marketing, sales, research, purchasing and
distribution to investigate and correct supply-related problems. - Serve
as lead contact and coordinator for customer satisfaction issues. - Provide
technical support to improve productivity and quality. - Perform
specification reviews for customers and for vendors supplying raw
materials. - Perform
such other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, or other technical discipline.

Eight or more years’ experience in lab
management in an industrial lab or equivalent industry.

Five years supervisory experience.
·
Detailed knowledge of analytical methods and
various areas of analytical chemistry (gas chromatography, automated analyses).
·
Application of statistics and statistical
quality control techniques to make quality assurance decisions.
·
Utilization of quality assurance statistical
control software programs.
· Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001:2015 Standard.
Additional
Qualifications:
· Knowledge of ISO 14000/14001/RC 14001 preferred.
· Six Sigma Blackbelt/Greenbelt desired.

- Excellent organizational and technical skills.
· High level of initiative and strong desire to
improve operations and processes in production areas with strong analytical and
problem-solving skills.
· Ability to lead, motivate and energize others.
