Position Summary:
The Energy Procurement Lead is responsible for the procurement of energy and utilities for five AdvanSix manufacturing sites. This role manages spend in excess of $100M for major purchases including natural gas, electricity, water, and other services used in chemical intermediates, fertilizers and nylon resins manufacturing.
This role is responsible for negotiating and executing supply agreements, price forecasting, and generating purchase orders. This position also manages the day-to-day issues that arise across the assigned commodities, including changes in quantities, deliveries, and invoice reconciliation. Additionally, this role will build and maintain strong business relationships with segment, plant, and functional stakeholders to develop holistic, business-focused strategies that support AdvanSix business goals. It will also build and sustain strong supplier relationships that support financial, risk, and sustainability value drivers.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Energy/Utility Supply Strategy –
-
Develop and maintain procurement category strategies for energy and utilities with the goal of minimizing supply risk while delivering financial productivity.

Communicate and align strategies with key stakeholders to include trend insights and commentary on energy markets.

Foster long-range planning by building strong partnerships with key suppliers, determining strategic service/cost scenarios and infrastructure investments.

Energy/Utility Supply Procurement –
-
Procure or oversee procurement of natural gas and electric supply for AdvanSix sites, managing a mixed portfolio of supply options.
-
Manage outside vendors to contractual obligations, including the supervision of a third-party energy service for daily natural gas scheduling.

Evaluate additional supply options such as pipeline capacity and alternative sources of supply.

Assure plant usage and supply match during critical days.
-
Develop and present monthly and annual price forecasts, supported by research into current and anticipated external market conditions.

Engage business and operations leaders to solve potential supply increases, shortages, supplier issues, and other potential failure modes.

Communicate and act as a liaison between the plants and energy providers.

Deliver upon assigned individual, team and organizational metrics, including working capital improvements on supplier pay terms and inventory levels.

Create and manage SAP Purchase Orders, facilitating automated PO transactions, PO issuance, and a purchase requisitions queue.

Energy/Utility Rates / Regulatory –
-
Provide subject matter expertise to Governmental Relations and regulatory efforts, and if warranted, represent AdvanSix in Energy User Groups.

Aid in the development of AdvanSix energy policy positions, aligning with Leadership, Governmental Relations and outside legal services.
Basic Qualifications:
-
5+ years of procurement or commercial role in the energy, petrochemical, or related industries working within a matrixed organization.

Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business administration or related field.

Strong knowledge of energy commodity markets and energy infrastructure.

Demonstrated experience with multi-year contracts, major contract management, and supplier negotiations.

Proven experience extracting relevant spend and market data, performing analytics, deriving insights on trends and savings opportunities, and presenting options and recommendations.

Applied skills using the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
Preferred and Other Qualifications:

MBA or Master’s degree

Experience with designing and implementing electric and natural gas hedging strategies.

SAP experience related to procurement responsibilities, such as outline agreements, purchase requisitions, and purchase orders.
