Position Summary:

The IT Commodity Leader assumes responsibility for the procurement of essential resources vital for the seamless operation of the IT Department and wider organization. The role is actively involved in the formulation and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives, meticulous evaluation of product offerings, supplier identification, and adept negotiation of contracts. The Commodity Leader is tasked with issuing purchase orders (POs) and is dedicated to minimizing expenditures while ensuring the acquisition of top-tier equipment, supplies, and services.

 

 

Summary of the Main Responsibilities:

  • Gather business requirements and identify and pre-qualify potential suppliers
  • Develop and distribute RPFs/RFQs and collects bids or other information
  • Evaluate proposals/quotes based on offering quality, cost, or other criteria and recommend suppliers that are best suited to meet the organization’s requirements
  • Partner with Legal and selected suppliers to develop mutually acceptable contractual agreements
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data to determine reasonableness of prices
  • Ensure internal stakeholder needs are understood and communicated to suppliers; work with suppliers as needed to resolve order issues

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in related role

 

 

Overview of the Team:

The Commodity Leader is an important part of the overall Procurement & Logistics function, which consists of a team of 30 people who value teamwork and collaboration. The Commodity Leader will specifically support the IT department, while working cohesively with the larger team to find the best and most cost-effective options for the organization.

The Commodity Leader interacts with internal stakeholders, such as Legal, IT and Accounts Payable, while also working with external suppliers and vendors. This provides the unique opportunity to be visible across many functions of the business.
