Co-Op / 6 month intern position with the AdvanSix Frankford Environmental Group. Will go from late September through March.
The Environmental co-op will assist the Environmental department of the A6 Frankford Plant in maintaining compliance with all applicable health, safety, and Environmental regulations. The Environmental co-op will be an integral member of the staff and be involved in current projects and process improvements initiatives. Environmental engineers and managers will assist in training the co-op and will be fully available for assistance and mentoring during the co-op’s term. Regular duties may include: – Inspecting the plant for Environmental or safety issues – Assisting in problem solving and investigation – Assisting in management system development including department procedures – Assisting in regulatory reporting obligations – Calculating Environmental emissions – Contributing ideas to improve Environmental performance The co-op will gain valuable experience in: – working with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations – rapid problem solving and root cause analysis – working in an industrial environment with a variety of engineering, operations, maintenance, and contract personnel. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable detailed knowledge of: how a chemical industrial plant operates and a working knowledge of distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps, scrubbers, and thermal/catalytic oxidizers; computer based systems to manage laboratory data, incident communication, investigations, plant communications, purchase orders, and maintenance work orders that are integral to managing an industrial facility; RC140001 management systems; life critical permitting including field audits; process hazard analysis under process safety management; and knowledge of OSHA and EPA compliance regulations that affect a chemical plant’s daily operations. Co-ops who show good organizational skills, communication skills, work ethic, professionalism, and maturity will have greater opportunities within the organization during their co-op term and could potentially lead to career opportunities upon graduation. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8-5 but can be flexible
