Position Summary:

  • This position will lead a team of project and construction managers responsible for the end-to-end execution of the capital projects at the AdvanSix Chesterfield and Hopewell sites.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the planning and execution of the Chesterfield Site Capital Projects and Lactam value stream portfolio at the Hopewell site; working with operations, maintenance, HS&E, and business teams to prioritize the portfolio of capital projects and ensure successful execution for the site. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Provide support for the Nylon Business Strategic Planning, Annual Operating Plan and New Product Development platforms to develop appropriate capital plans/budgets while working with site leadership teams.
  • Manage the execution of site capital investments by assigning project management and construction resources while working the prioritization with site, business, and functional group leaders.   
    • Lead team of project and cross functional project team of business, technology, capital, operations, and HS&E team members.  This may include project engineers or project managers to assist with large capital project execution.  Interface with key site and company personnel to make maximum use of available resources. Such functions will include, but not limited to, site engineering resources, purchasing, operations, systems, and business engineering, as well as equipment vendors, contracting firms.
    • Ensure all FEL deliverables are complete prior to gate and funding approval
    • Monitor and control portfolio of projects to meet the stated objectives and metrics commitments in the AR (both managed and in areas assigned).
    • Accountable for ensuring projects are forecasted, managed, and reported out monthly
  • Work closely with other Capital Team Leaders to forecast resource needs at minimum of a 90-day look ahead. 
  • Partner with Discipline Engineering manager to create and maintain portfolio of projects for engineering alliance relationship.
  • Advocate for strong safety awareness program with a consistent implementation of policies and procedures and participate in construction safety audits and contractor safety meetings.    
  • Responsible for development of direct reports in both technical skill and ASIX competencies

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, business, or a technical discipline; chemical engineering preferred; Master’s degree/MBA preferred
  • 15 years of experience in chemical manufacturing in industries such as, chemical, pulp & paper, petro-chemical, or pharmaceutical, in direct support of chemical manufacturing facilities
  • Minimum 5-years of capital project execution or project management experience
  • 5 years of managerial experience

 

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to generate & implement work process improvements Preferred
  • Strong skills in use of SAP-PM; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Production Loss Accounting Tools
  • Strong leadership skills are essential in prioritizing resources and setting expectations for the Frankford Capital Team
  • Strong organizational skills are essential to manage priorities, enable site implementation leaders to manage logistics, and to manage the “pull” of services from multiple sites
  • Operations experience is a definite plus
  • PMP Certification is a plus
