AdvanSix marked a major milestone with the completion of a $45 million multi-year renovation to the Delaware River dock at its Frankford manufacturing facility in Philadelphia. This landmark investment marks one of the most significant capital commitments in the facility’s recent history, enhances the resilience of Philadelphia’s waterfront and reinforces the city’s position as a critical player in U.S. and global supply chains.
The completed project was celebrated on Friday, May 15, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony joined by AdvanSix President and CEO Erin Kane and Frankford Plant Manager Bill Rodebaugh, AdvanSix teammates, community members and Steamfitters Local 420 Business Manager Jim Snell, along with elected officials, Pa. Sen. Tina Tartaglione, Pa. Rep. Joe Hohenstein and 6th District Philadelphia City Council member Mike Driscoll.
The upgraded dock is designed to support the safer and more efficient movement of two billion pounds of essential chemicals annually, reinforcing AdvanSix’s vertically integrated supply chain that serves industries spanning agriculture, automotive, packaging, and building and construction. The project drew on nearly 100 skilled workers and reflects the depth of Philadelphia’s trade and technical workforce, with hourly union and salaried teammates working alongside contractors throughout the multi-year effort.
AdvanSix President and CEO Erin Kane highlighted the project’s alignment with local and state initiatives and supports “the city’s vision to expand local manufacturing and Pennsylvania’s 10-year Economic Development Strategy, which identifies manufacturing as one of five sectors where the Commonwealth holds a strong competitive advantage.”
The Frankford site traces its industrial roots back to 1884, making it one of the longest-standing manufacturing sites in Pennsylvania and ranking amongst the earliest continually operating chemical plants in the country. This site remains a cornerstone of AdvanSix’s commitment to American manufacturing and workforce development and the Philadelphia community.
Guided by the core values of Safety, Integrity, Accountability and Respect, AdvanSix is proud to invest in the people, infrastructure and communities that make American manufacturing strong.
