We are happy to report that planting went well for us this year, as we were able to start the process earlier than normal. Our biggest challenge was the late-April frost that hit some of our beans that had already emerged.
Our early season fertilizer plan consisted of Ceres Solutions coming out to spread potash and MAP. Then a few days before planting, we applied 100 pounds of AMS per acre. Now, we are going back to spray with magnesium and insecticide. We are also doing tissue sampling and look forward to seeing those results.
Our 38-acre test field is also doing well. As of now, it does not differ much in appearance from our other fields that also have AMS on every acre. Other than some weed pressure, our beans are off to a good start and appear to be some of the healthiest looking soybeans we’ve seen so far.
