How far into the growing season can you make an ammonium sulfate topdress application to corn without causing damage to it?

Answer:

Granular Sulf-N ammonium sulfate – which will not stick to the leaves as would products high in fines – and the availability of high clearance, high capacity spreaders have allowed for more and more corn fields to receive ammonium sulfate up until the point when the canopy has almost closed. When corn needs nitrogen and sulfur, which could be the case in areas that have received a lot of rain recently, any potential burn damage will never equal the damage from nitrogen and sulfur deficiency.
